Our Mission

Medical Students for Burn Center Viedma (MS for BCV) is a non-profit group whose mission is to provide a better future for children recovering from debilitating injuries at the Viedma Hospital Childrenís Burn Center in Cochabamba, Bolivia.

It is our goal to ensure a well-equipped, beneficial, and compassionate environment through which they may heal and develop the confidence to overcome the significant obstacles they face.

Burn Care International

Burn Care International (BCI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of burn patients in developing countries around the world.  BCI’s founder, Cindy Jackson, was burned herself six years ago in an accident at her home while living overseas as missionaries in Cochabamba, Bolivia and spent almost two years recovering. Although she received excellent care at the burn center of the Doctor's Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, the experience made her realize that most of the burn victims around the world have very few options and suffer greatly because of lack of proper medical care. Burn Care International focuses on the prevention of major scarring and contractures through the implementation of a good physical therapy program and the use of compression garments. BCI offers advice, consultation, and on site training around the world.

BCI’s intimate involvement with the burn center in Cochabamba has led to a unique partnership with MS4BCV.  The summer internship program that MS4BCV offers is coordinated by Cindy Jackson and BCI.  The medical experiences, cultural diversity and room and board that BCI is able to organize for the summer internship students is greatly appreciated by MS4BCV!
