We spent the afternoon at the Cochabamba country club where we ate lunch and played golf. Lunch was incredible and the golf course was interesting and beautiful. It was up in the hills above Cochabamba, the landscape of which was extremely dry. The course, the only one in Cochabamba, itself was green and well maintained but the clubs that we rented were made no later than 1980 and were of the old school wooden variety. The best part about them was that we couldn’t hit the ball nearly far enough to worry about losing it (i set a record for number of lost balls with only 2, one of which I hit into the thatched roof of a bathroom 15 yards away from where the shot originated). I actually shot a couple of legitimate bogeys (i.e. I didn’t kick any balls into the fairway when no one was looking like I usually do) and am considering searching for wooden clubs and 30-year-old irons when I get home.
